Welcome to the GOOT Gig Guide for the Summer of 2009/10 - thanks heaps to DJ KAHU

SUMMER CONCERTS 2009 - 2010

In the upcoming summer here in Aotearoa/New Zealand (Aotearoa is the Maori word for New Zealand); there are a huge amount of concerts that I am sure that you would like to check out while you are here in New Zealand. From hip-hop and reggae to rock and indie, from international acts to our own home grown world famous in New Zealand bands, which I must say are quite tasty and very appropriate for long afternoons in the hot summer sun, having a BBQ and a beer… you, know what I mean. And I am sure with you guys heading into winter in the northern hemisphere you will be dying for some more summer sun.

So below I am going to advertise my personal selection of summer goodies, suggest some websites that you might want to check out and possibly some YouTube videos of some of our local acts that you may enjoy… so sit back relax and enjoy the ride.

On a personal note:
If it were me I would really suggest you try and get to one of the festivals that I have suggested to you guys as they are more value for money and plus you will get to experience, more of New Zealand’s wonderful landscape as well as bouncing to some kool summer tunes for two to three days. To let you all know I will be in attendance at the Raggamuffin Concert, so you are most welcome to join me in getting your reggae sway on and go on with your dread self.

There is a whole raft of other concerts on around New Zealand that you will have the opportunity to go to and my suggestion to you guys is to get out of Auckland.

FREE CONCERTS

Did some one say free, this reminds me of one of my favourite sayings which is I only drink two types of beverage… Beer and FREE! So therefore I predict that you are no different from me, when someone says free I am all over that.

Over the summer period there are a number of free concerts held in various parks and beaches around Auckland, either hosted by the City Council or local radio stations. Below are some websites to keep on checking out once you get here to keep up to date when these events are on.
