1 Day Trips?

Anyone who lives in Auckland will tell you that they can only survive by escaping to the coast every now and then. There are plenty of great spots close to the city!

Piha & Karekare:
Two of Auckland’s best-known beaches are Piha and Karekare. Piha is famous for its black sand and big waves, while Karekare was the location for the NZ film “The Piano”.

Bethells Beach:
Another beautiful West Coast beach is Bethells. Here you will find a vast area of sand dunes – perfect for running, sliding and jumping off.

Muriwai Beach:
The most northern of the West Coast beaches Muriwai is a long expansive stretch of sand. There is good surfing, a gannet colony, rock fishing and a good café.

New Zealand Surf Tours:
If you are interested in learning to surf, surf camps, surf tours or even winter snow tours these guys are the ones to talk to! 10% discount for GOOT Passport holders.

Whatipu:
Whatipu is an amazing exposed stretch of coastline. The beach itself is over a kilometre wide and the area boasts some good walks and some interesting caves.

Goat Island:
Spend a day exploring the beautiful northern beaches and try snorkeling at the Goat Island Marine Reserve. The perfect summer day trip. If you have a little more time, base yourself for a weekend at Goat Island Camping & Backpackers.

Day Trips By Boat!
Auckland’s close proximity to the Hauraki Gulf means that there are a number of nearby islands that make for an excellent and convenient day trip out of town.

Puhoi Pub & Paddle:
A great little day out, combining a mixture of active adventure (kayaking) and passive relaxation (drinking beer).

There are so many great places to go if you have a weekend or better yet a Monday or Friday off on either side of the weekend too!

Still within the north island there is so much to see and do. With 3 days or more your really getting somewhere.
